    Here's the problem with that thought, big guy... take out the first 5 SEC games that shizbag Simms started and only take in what he was arguing about Bray starting and they averaged 37.5 points a game in the last 4 games and 4 of those were SEC teams. That was an anverage of over 33 points a game against those SEC teams. I share his excitement and wonder what would have happened if they'd played the kid who could throw the ball more than 40 yards and knew he couldn't stand in the pocket for 15 seconds holding the ball. Simms had 2 td passes over 35 yards against UF. He also completed about 66% of his passes. It's a fair suggestion that Bray more than likely would have been better. UT also had about 20 less plays than UF in that game and finished with just 29 yards less offense.

    As for Bray, the whole thing that 51 has in his sig annoyed the hell out of me. Peerless did something similar after the FSU game in 99 and I hold it against him to this day. It's stupid. Peerless was a SR though and Bray is an 18 year old. I don't expect that to be happening any more.

    As for Poole, the coaches have told him and told him to get the ball and get up field. He likes to stop in the backfield and try to change directions in the backfield. He did that in the first quarter and I dog cussed him. After that he didn't play much. He's a decent back and I'm glad he's there but he has a little less than average speed and no moves. I wish he'd run like Hardesty did last year, get the ball and go forward as fast as you can, when you get past the DL you can think about changing directions then.

    The game ****ed me off as well, I think the PF call on Jackson was garbage and even worse was that the ball was lying on the ground and they still called it a catch. The whole end of regulation scenario was more than frustrating because you can only be told you've won a game and have the kids all on the field for a handshake to be told 10-20 seconds later "SIKE" and they let them have the ball back to steal a win. 8-5 would have felt a lot better than 6-7. It wasn't a loss to Tulsa or JMU so it's not that bad. (It's always great to see that the unrelenting obessession lives on.)

    It's a successful season in my eyes. I thought getting to .500 would be a good season. They had at times 7 true freshmen on the field on offense and they played hard all year although sometimes not well. If they get to 8 wins next year it's a good season IMO. 2012 they could be very good with more than 60 kids on the roster and not playing 16 freshmen.

    Let's look at those four games. Here are the teams that UT beat in those last four games.
    at Memphis
    Ole Miss
    at Vanderbilt
    Kentucky

    They weren't playing LSU or Alabama, they were playing the worst of the SEC. That has to be taken into consideration.

    Theres no doubt UT has a lot of talent at skill positions and a high ceiling, but to say the rest of the SEC will get abused by them when they have won 7 SEC games in two years is pretty bold and arrogant at this point.

    It was extremely frustrating because UT really won the game. With the right calls made and the time running right, UT wins. But Jackson knew better than doing that, I dont ness. think its a great call but he should know in that situation you have to be aware of the rules.
    But you are right, theres no way that was a catch. The ball obviously hit the ground.

    Add in the fact that Bob Davie is the worst announcer and had obvious bias against UT made it even worse.

    You said SEC games though. OM and UK and Vandy to a much lesser extent have SEC athletes and talent. OM's DL and LB's are comparable to almost anyone in the league. UK also beat SC who beat Bama. UT also scored more against SC than Bama did and more than double against Ole Miss than Bama did. All of that was with a minimum of 4 true freshmen playing on O and sometimes as many as 7. I'm pretty confident saying that the freshmen class that is at UT right now will abuse the majority of the SEC by the time they're through. The problem now is defense. They need LB's over 5'10" 210 lbs, they need DT's not DE's playing DT, and they need players that aren't Art Evans and Anthony Anderson playing in the secondary.

    Re: Music City Bowl

    I am wondering how the starting DL will look next year. Martin and Jackson at DE with Walls and Hughes at DT, or keep Jackson playing some DT and throw in Smith or Miller at the DE. Finally glad to see we are going to at least have a few options when adding in the recruits.

    What rule are you referring to?

    Tennessee's future looks bright, if they can keep all these young kids together they have a chance for a bright future

    and james madison beat VT who beat FSU, but would you take JMU over FSU?

    but Ole Miss's secondary was horrendous, and UK beating USC has nothing to do with their defense, which was epically horrible. Vandy was Vandy. and you dont think that a team playing UT has a little less pep in their step than a team playing the defending national champion?

    my whole point is that its a little early to project UT scoring 40 a game against the top of the top of the SEC

    the point was that the UT offense has not shown the capabilities to score big points against a great defense

    Theres not a lauching rule in NCAA. There is a initiating helmet contact rule to a defenseless receiver rule which did not happen.

    Points of Emphasis
    Page 11 NCAA Rulebook

    PROTECTION OF DEFENSELESS PLAYERS—In 2008, the committee
    introduced a separate rule prohibiting initiating contact with and targeting a
    defenseless opponent (Rule 9-1-3).
    The following are situations in which defenseless players are susceptible to
    serious injury:
    • The quarterback moving down the line of scrimmage who has handed or
    pitched the ball to a teammate, and then makes no attempt to participate
    further in the play;
    • The kicker who is in the act of kicking the ball, or who has not had a
    reasonable length of time to regain his balance after the kick;
    • The passer who is in the act of throwing the ball, or who has not had a
    reasonable length of time to participate in the play again after releasing the
    ball;
    • The pass receiver whose concentration is on the ball;
    • The pass receiver who has clearly relaxed when the pass is no longer
    catchable;
    • The kick receiver whose attention is on the downward flight of the ball;
    • The kick receiver who has just touched the ball;
    • The player who has relaxed once the ball has become dead; and
    • The player who is obviously out of the play.

    Pule 9 Section 1 Article 3
    Page 122 NCAA Rulebook

    Initiating Contact/Targeting an Opponent
    ARTICLE 3. a. No player shall initiate contact and target an opponent with
    the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.

    b. No player shall initiate contact and target a defenseless opponent
    above the shoulders. When in question, it is a foul. (Refer to Points of
    Emphasis for a description of “Defenseless Player.”)

    Interpretation Rule 9-1-3
    Page 236 NCAA Rulebook

    Receiver A83 has just leaped and received a forward pass. As
    A83 is about to regain his balance, B45 launches and drives
    into A83 above the shoulder area with his helmet or shoulder.
    RULING: Foul by B45 for targeting and initiating contact with a
    defenseless opponent above the shoulders. Ejection for a flagrant
    foul.
